SANS 560 is a must!

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

I just attended the new SEC560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking course at SANS Boston. Ed Skoudis has really out done himself this time. I recommend this course for anyone who is starting out in penetration testing and especially for consultants who want to do security assessments. There is a very good coverage of system and network testing, as well as a brief coverage of web application and wireless testing.

I found the capture the flag exercise to be particularly useful. It manages to present a realistic scenario while still challenging the students to use all their skills from each day. SANS continues to cement themselves as the leader in security technical training.
